CNN Presents produces (another) Informative Piece

November 25th, 2006

Today, while recovering from my holiday feast, I happened across a little-publicized installment of CNN Presents “We Were Warned,”hosted by Frank Sesnos. The basis for the presentation is a hypothetical what-would-happen if there were a world-wide oil crisis in 2009. What I saw covered the ripple effects, like the U.S. Post Office laying off its workers, suspending Saturday deliveries, and no one traveling for Thanksgiving. Conversely, Brazil, who would be oil-independent, with an abundance of sugar ethanol and flex-fuel cars, hardly blinks.

This is followed by a fair, in-depth analysis of what is going on with energy producers in the U.S., Brazil,  and the American population today. I only caught the last 15 minutes, so I’m hoping to watch it again tonight. It is scheduled to repeat again tomorrw (Sunday, Nov. 26). Hopefully they will run it again several times this week. It covers a lot of bases, hits points anyone should ask, and is a good harbinger of truth. Four Stars.

P.S. I just checked the schedule, and it will re-air Sunday at 3:00 a.m & 11:00 a.m(PST). Hope you read this in time!!

    Oil Shortage “NO!”

    Synthetic oil to coal is not mentioned by W. Bush with four other solutions to oil shortages.
    ✓ 200 years of oil at present usage (Sessions R-AL) = 240 billion tons of coal. (Beck)
    ✓ The Military uses synthetic coal. (Sessions) Also South Africa and Germany did in WWII. (Beck) (There is supposedly a synthetic plant in South Dakota.)
    WHY???
    Your guesses:
    a.
    b.
    My guesses: 1. simple answers:
    a. Oil companies now have competition, possible loss in millions to Bush’s friends regarding their oil stock.
    b. W.’s word for his oil company “Arbusto”. It lost millions, supposedly the Saudis helped bail him out.
    2. Complex answers involving a double flip flop and costs: ( Frontline program)
    ✓ Bush, the “DECIDER”, stated, “…require all power plants to meet clean air standards to decrease all emissions, SO2, NO2, Mercury and CO2.” To me he says there is one problem with emissions not two.
    ✓ The “DECIDER” sends a letter to Hagel cancelling emissions clean up. The apparent reason was the cost as developed by Cheney. (Gingrich in a debate with Kerry commented, …use tax credits and cash incentives, Kerry had a different answer.)
    ✓ The “DECIDER” appeared to give Kempthorne permission to list polar bears as threatened because of the connection between Global Warming and the loss of sea ice.
    ✓ Parade Magazine stated that 50,000 American lives are lost yearly to pollution; I am pointing out that it appears that some of these lives could have been saved.
    The “DECIDER” in showing himself as a compassionate conservative, is concentrating only on Greenhouse Gasses and not pollution. Which effects 50,000 American lives. Time for a new Moon Shot - Manhattan type project; hire top scientists instead of giving an estimated $14 -$18 billion annually at the time of record profits. Solve probable production and pollution problems and hold the “DECIDER” to his “PLEDGE”!!!

    I appreciate you taking the time to comment here, I’m not exactly sure what your point is. Could you clarify the main thing that is bothering you, and a suggestion to make it better?

    Oil Shortages “NO!” New parameters

    RE: Oil shortages, we need some truthful statements, but what do we get:
    I”m rubber, you’re glue, my propaganda is gonna stick to you! (Election Time!)
    (Propaganda - a half truth, a lie, anything to win an argument - an old definition.)
    The following are some broad spectrum statements about the energy field:
    Drilling;

    B. Pickens provides an answer as to why oil companies don’t want to drill on their leases, but in places such ANWAR, etc. He talked about Russia and another country, and how it takes pumping out 6 barrels of water to get one barrel of oil. Whereas, it’s a 100:1 ratio in the US. Have the oil companies explored any of their government leases?
    I’ve heard estimates ranging from 1 year to 10 years to drill and get oil from any area. Another question, it is said all of the drilling equipment is currently under lease or contract, any truth?
    Some one stated there was a rupture of the ocean floor when drilling was done off the California coast.
    CSPAN;

    Farelane (sp?) of the Regan Admin. talked about different programs in which we would not have to import one drop of oil
    Hydrogen;

    We are there, supposedly it is the chicken or the egg scenario. There was s spot on TV news showing an actual car running on hydrogen. In a magazine they were showing with a Honda Civic or Accord will be running on hydrogen in 2009. With one of the cars it was shown that the water to hydrogen unit would fit in a garage. Germany was working on an unit to convert water to hydrogen.
    Other items needing to be presented to the public;

    Supposedly there is a car in Japan that runs on water.
    Gingrich when debating Kerry commented…there was supposedly a breakthrough in solar panels in New Zealand, (memory).
    In solving Greenhouse gasses could both Gingrich and Kerry’s solutions be used?
    A new zero pollution generator was going to be built in Indiana, what happened to that?
    How are ocean wave generators progressing?
    Supposedly a couple of generators were placed at the bottom of the Hudson River to create electricity for two businesses in NYC.
    Synthetic coal to oil is used by the Military, South Africa, and maybe in South Dakota.
    Supposedly small wind generators are being built to place in the middle of freeways.
    Supposedly enough wind is generated in ND and SD to provide enough energy for the whole US, but there are no transmission lines.

    Cordially yours,
    Kelley R. Benningfield
